Usual Dose in Adults and Children 12 yrs and older:

Recommended Oral
Phenoxymethylpenicillin Dose
To be taken preferably at least 1 hr before or 2 hrs after meals.
Mild to Moderately Severe
250 mg to 500 mg every four to six hrs
Prevention of recurrence following rheumatic fever
250 mg every 12 hrs continuously
                             Or, as prescribed by a physician.

Usual Dose in Children 6 to 12 yrs old (Who can swallow capsule whole):
  • Orally, one 250 mg every 6 hrs.
  • Or, as prescribed by a physician.
Duration of Treatment: 10 to 14 days depending on the severity of infection, clinical response and bacteriological course.
