INDICATION/S
To improve glycemic control in patients with T2DM as an adjunct to diet and exercise:
- As monotherapy in patients whose hyperglycemia cannot be controlled by diet and exercise alone
- In combination with a sulfonylurea, metformin or insulin when adequate glycemic control is not achieved by diet, exercise and monotherapy.
In cases of inadequate glycemic control, it is recommended that pioglitazone be added to the existing regimen than for pioglitazone to be substituted for existing drugs.
