DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION
Patients receive essentially the same systemic antimicrobial therapy after equivalent doses of ofloxacin administered either orally or IV in the absence of vomiting or other factors interfering with the absorption of orally administered drug.
Ofloxacin IV is used when the patient cannot tolerate an oral dosage form.
Ofloxacin IV should be administered only by slow IV infusion over a period of 30-60 mins. It should be used as soon as the vial is opened.
Switch from IV to oral ofloxacin using the same dose when the patient’s condition has improved.
Recommended Oral/ IV Adult Dose: 200 mg to 400 mg every 12 hrs depending on the type and severity of infection.
