DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION

Oral Cetirizine Dose
2.5 mg/mL Syrup (Oral Drops)
5 mg/5 mL Syrup
Children 6 mos to less than 2 yrs
2.5 mg (1 mL) OD or BID
Maximum Dose: 5 mg/day

2 to 5 yrs
5 mg (2 mL) OD or 2.5 mg ( 1mL) BID
5 mL (1 tsp) OD or 2.5 mL (1/2 tsp) BID
6 to 11 yrs
-
10 mL (2 tsp) OD or 5 mL (1 tsp) BID
Adults and children 12 yrs and older
-
10 mL (2 tsp) OD

Or, as prescribed by a physician.
 
Dosage in Renal and Hepatic Impairment
Oral Solution (1mg/mL)
Adults and children ≥ 12 yrs of age:
·         decreased renal function
(CLCR = 11-31 mL/min),
·         on hemodialysis
(CLCR = < 7 mL/min),
·         with hepatic impairment
 
 
5 mL (1 tsp)
OD
Note: Pediatric patients aged 6-11 yrs with renal and hepatic function should use the lowest recommended dose. Because of the lack of pharmacokinetic and safety information for cetirizine in children below the age of 6 yrs with impaired renal or hepatic function, use of cetirizine in these patients is not recommended.
