Two members of the Unilab Family were honored by the Agora Awards recently. Aristotle Dimitui was the 2008 Agora Awardee for Overseas Marketing Excellence while Edwin Mapanao was the Agora Awardee for Outstanding Achievement in Marketing Management.
As AVP and Country General Manager of United Pharma, Unilab’s operations in Myanmar, Dimitui was honored for his exemplary performance in optimizing resources to attain consistent growth in sales, market share, and profitability. “As small as United Pharma was in 1997, our budding Myanmar team persevered against formidable and entrenched Western and Asian brands in the local pharmaceutical industry,” he said. “Strengthened by our desire to provide quality and affordable healthcare products and services in Myanmar, we persevered to survive the difficult start-up phase in a foreign market and launched the company into a growth path by remembering the humble beginnings of Unilab in 1945.”
Today, United Pharma has grown from a nine-man team to a strong 270-employee organization. Its original product portfolio of four brands (Alaxan, Decolgen, Hydrite, and Neo-Pyrazon) has also expanded to 40 consumer and ethical brands.
Meanwhile, UNAHCO Chief Marketing Officer Edwin Mapanao was honored for facilitating the growth of the product portfolio of Univet, Thunderbird, and Sarimanok, thus becoming the leading brands in the animal healthcare, game fowl, and swine segments. He was also recognized for his operations management and distribution skills.
Currently, Mapanao is also assisting in the market development of UNAHCO in other countries like Vietnam, Cambodia, Indonesia, and Saipan. “Feeding a growing Filipino nation and providing livelihood are our company’s main goals,” Mapanao said. |
